In a video released on November 24, 2011, there appears to be literally hundreds of UFO’s above our heads, including an Earth-sized UFO captured on video with IR and neutral density (ND) filters. According to wiki, Infrared cut-off filters, sometimes called IR filters or heat-absorbing filters, are designed to reflect or block mid-infrared wavelengths while passing visible light. They are often used in devices with bright incandescent light bulbs (such as slide and overhead projectors) to prevent unwanted heating. There are also filters which are used in solid state (CCD or CMOS) video cameras to block IR due to the high sensitivity of many camera sensors to near-infrared light. These filters typically have a blue hue to them as they also sometimes block some of the light from the longer red wavelengths. In photography and optics, a neutral density filter or ND filter can be a colorless (clear) or grey filter. An ideal neutral density filter reduces and/or modifies intensity of all wavelengths or colors of light equally, giving no changes in hue of color rendition. The purpose of standard photographic neutral density filters is to allow the photographer greater flexibility to change the aperture, exposure time and/or motion blur of subject in different situations and atmospheric conditions.
On the video below, the photographer states: “Filmed with an IR filter switched over a black and white picture effect 1:00 pm. When this technique or method is done right, the sunlight creates a perfect square. This means that your video camera is focusing the distant objects.” The video was taken at 40x optical zoom with an IR filter 850 nm.
